Mountaineers Drop Battle to #5 West Chester

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team competed in a home matchup with No. 5 West Chester on Sunday (Sept. 13) afternoon, with the Golden Rams coming away with a 4-0 victory over the Mountaineers.
 
Lydia Miller had seven saves for the Mountaineers and Jenna Duke had six shots but was unable to score.
 
The Mountaineers (3-2) and Golden Rams (3-0) started strong offensively with both teams sharing corner opportunities. 
 
The Golden Rams found the back of the box in the first three minutes and kept the momentum throughout the rest of the quarter. The Mounties had three more corner opportunities in the first quarter but were unable to find the next level to even the score. West Chester lead 1-0.
 
West Chester opened the second stopping another Mountaineer corner to the put another shot in and put the rams up 2-0. 
 
The Golden Rams found their stride, deterring the Mountie offense at every opportunity going into the half.
 
The Mountaineers put up three major offensive looks in the second half but were unable to convert, while the rams out the pressure putting up six total corners with two finding home to end the contest at 4-0.
