MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team climbed over Franklin Pierce University by a score of 3-0 at Karl Van Norman Field on Friday, Sept. 9, for their Morgan's Message game.

Kathleen Marchiani and
Amanda Ray led the way for the Mounties (3-1). Marchiani scored two goals and Ray picked up a goal and an assist in the outing. Goalkeeper
Lydia Miller notched three saves on the day, keeping the Ravens (1-2) offense quiet.

Just four minutes into the game,
Jordan Brunnabend sent a nice setup to Marchiani for the Mountaineers first goal of the evening.

In the second period, the Mounties offense got to work, scoring two more goals. The first goal came soaring off the stick of Ray, extending the Mansfield lead 2-0.

In the same period, Marchiani picked up her second goal of the night off a nifty pass from Ray.

The final two periods of the game were strictly defensive, with both teams having chances but unable to find the cage. The Mountaineers were able to stay in control of possession and take the game 3-0. Mansfield would win the corner battle, drawing 15 to Franklin Pierce's two on the game.

The Mounties are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Karl Van Norman Field. They will take on West Chester with a 1:00 p.m. start.
