WILSON, N.C. – The Mountaineer baseball team (6-6) traveled to the Wilson, N.C. Tournament to compete against the Chestnut Hill Griffins (2-3) on Thursday (Mar. 5) evening, with the Mounties taking the game 4-1.
Starting pitcher for the game was redshirt-freshman Quinn Shindler, threw eight innings, allowing just four hits, one earned run and 10 strikeouts.
Kahale Burns started the scoring for the Mountaineers with a home run to center field, bringing in Ryan Sekulski with.Â
In the second inning, Michael Palmer followed up with a homer of his own to right field, giving the Mounties a 3-0 lead.Â
The Griffins scored off of a home run in the third inning putting them on the scoreboard.
The last run for Mansfield came from a single by Billy Riggs bringing Sekulski home for the final time.Â
The Mountaineers concluded the ninth inning with a final score of 4-1.

The Mounties are set to compete in day two of the tournament tomorrow March 6. The games are scheduled for 1:00 pm against Clarion and 4:00 pm against Chestnut Hill, with the final game on Saturday, March 7, at 1:00 pm.
