Mounties Drop Double to Golden Rams in Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Mansfield Mountaineers softball team fell in both games to the West Chester Golden Rams, at the Lycoming Valley Intermediate School fields on Sunday, March 29. 
 
The team dropped the games by scores of 7-4 and 12-1. 
 
GAME ONE: West Chester 7 Mansfield 4
 
Sarah Shupp hit her first homerun of the season and had a late RBI as the Mounties comeback attempt in the seventh inning was cut short.  Rachel Sherman was 3-3 with an RBI. Reilly Storer pitched five innings and tossed five strikeouts. 
 
Mansfield had to battle in the game surrendering four runs in the first inning. Shupp's solo shot put the score 4-1 after that first inning. 
 
The Golden Rams would plate three runs in the next two innings to make the lead 7-1. They kept that lead until the bottom of the seventh. Sherman would drive in the first run of the inning. A batter later Aubrey Reinert doubled in another the following batter, making the score 7-3. Shup would drive in another run on a fielder's choice. It would be the final run and West Chester got the victory 7-4. 
 
 
GAME TWO: West Chester 12 Mansfield 1
 
Mansfield would drop the second game of the double header as West Chester jumped ahead early and managed runs every inning. Bre Lock and Britni Motter combined for five strikeouts. 
 
Kylie Bornman was 2-2 with an RBI as the top Mountie batter. She would drive that run in during the fourth inning.

Mansfield is back in action Monday, March 30th as the host the Shepherd Rams. First pitch at 2 p.m.
