MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers softball team dropped a PSAC double header to Shepherd, in their first home game of the season.
Shepherd (10-11, 5-4) took game one by a score 7-0 and game two by a score of 10-2.
GAME ONE: Shepherd 7 – Mansfield 0
The first game was split with a thirty-minute lightning delay.
Rachel Sherman continued her hit streak going 1-3 at the plate.
Mansfield kept it close before the Rams broke through with a two run homerun in the third inning and added three more on another the following inning to lead 6-0. After the lightning delay the Rams added a solo shot to lead 7-0.
GAME TWO: Shepherd 10 – Mansfield 2
In game two, Lilliana Moyer and Sherman were offensive players for Mansfield. Moyer went 1-2 with an RBI and drew a walk. Sherman scored a run and got another hit in the game.
The Mounties were in a 5-0 hole before Sherman scored on a passed ball in the fourth inning. Mansfield left two on base to keep the score 5-1. The following inning slipped away from Mansfield the deficit growing to 10-1.
Moyer would single in another run, but the Mounties would fall 10-2 in five innings.
