TROUTVILLE, VA – The Mountaineer softball team (2-4) competed in the final day of the Virginia Wise Tournament, with the Mounties taking the first and falling in the second .
Game One: Mansfield 3, Bowie State 1
Britni Motter started on the mound, where she collected 6 strikeouts and allowed only one earned run.
In the first inning, Sarah Shupp had an RBI to second base for Paige Reichard to put up a run.Â
Reichard had a single to right field in the bottom of the third, adding a double RBI with Alex Reisinger and Kaelyn Watson coming home.
The Bulldogs were finally able to get in the groove adding a home run to the board, but it was not enough to compete with the 3-1 lead.
Game Two: Concord University 6, Mansfield 2
The Mountain Lions had a quick start to the evening with two runs in the bottom of the first from a stolen base and left field RBI.
Two back to back homers added three runs to the scoreboard in the second.
Mansfield was able to retaliate with Reichard rounding home due to an RBI and Aubrey Reinert stealing.Â
Concord collected their third home run of the day, sealing the deal, 6-2.
