Mansfield Mounts Ten-Point Fourth-Quarter Comeback, Defeat Millersville in Overtime

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers women's basketball team used a 10-point fourth quarter comeback and a last second Katie Sheeler layup to defeat PSAC foe Millersville 67-65, in overtime, on Saturday, Feb. 7. 
 
Sheeler had a game high 28 points for Mansfield. Jenna Kasmierski had 10 points and six rebounds. Jenna Burkett led the way with 10 rebounds, six being offensive rebounds. 
 
The Mounties (3-20, 1-15 PSAC) and the Marauders (12-10, 8-8 PSAC) traded baskets through the entire first quarter. Both teams shot 9-19 in the quarter, and each team had 10 rebounds. Sheeler had nine of the Mansfield's 20 points. They trailed 21-20.
 
The Mounties started off with a 10-6 swing in the second. Burkett and Kasmierski each scored four. Millersville responded with an 11-0 run to close out the half and led 38-30.
 
Mansfield held steady in the third quarter, continuing to trade baskets, Kasmierski lead the way for the Mounties with six points both on big three-point baskets. Mansfield trailed 56-46.
 
Trailing by ten the Mountaineer defense rose to the occasion and held the Marauders to a single point. Ty Woody, and Maya Dickerson would hit big three point baskets and Sheeler would knock down six clutch free throws. Mansfield would force overtime tied 59-59.
 
In the overtime period, Millersville would collect the first four points. Sheeler responded with a three point shot, then Mansfield would tie it at 63 with a Dickerson three. Sheeler would hit two free throws that would tie up the game with thirty seconds left. Mansfield would have the ball with five seconds left and Coach Senefelder drew up a play to get Sheeler open for the layup with 1.3 seconds left. Mansfield would hold on for the 67-65 victory.
