Mounties Open 2026 Season at Glenville

The Mansfield Baseball team competed in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

GLENVILLE, W. Va. – The Mountaineer baseball team (0-2) traveled to Glenville State University for a doubleheader against the Pioneers (2-0) on Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon. The Pioneers took the win in both games by only one run.

Game One: Glenville State 4, Mansfield 3

Garrett Emerick started on the mound, helping the Mounties keep the first four innings scoreless.

At the top of the fifth, a double hit down the right field line by Brinden Floyd allowed the Mounties to bring in the first run by Kahale Burns.

Billy Riggs followed up with one of his own allowing Ryan Sekulski and Floyd to end up at home as well.

Glenville State finished that inning without anymore damage and was able to pick up four runs of their own in the bottom of it.

The Pioneers were able to keep the Mountaineers at bay without letting them score another run, to take game one 4-3.

Game Two: Glenville State 10, Mansfield 9

The Mounties had a slow start to the second game allowing seven runs to come through within the first two innings.

However, the team picked up their pace in the third inning scoring seven runs on their own.

The inning consisted of a run from Slade Mictigue, Tanner Hoffman,  Michael Palmer and Sekulski.

The last three runs of the inning were off a homer from senior transfer, Peter Tadic, that landed outside the left field. In that hit, Tadic brought home Billy Riggs and Nick Ledger as well.

Both teams went dry until the sixth inning where the Mounties picked up two runs by Hoffman and Mictigue.

Glenville State picked up another two runs in the sixth inning to tie up the game once again.

Both teams sat at nine runs tied until the extra inning where the Pioneers picked up one run to seal the deal.
