MANSFIELD, Pa. – The No. 6-ranked Mansfield University Mountaineers field hockey team fell to No. 2 Shippensburg University, 2-1, on Sunday, September 21, at Karl Van Norman Field.

Leah Toskey scored the Mountaineers' only goal of the contest, while
Lydia Miller recorded four saves for Mansfield (3–3).

The first quarter resulted in a stalemate, with neither side able to find the back of the cage. In the second quarter, the scoreboard lit up. Toskey netted the Mounties lone goal of the game off an assist from
Jenna Duke. That goal was first goal allowed by Shippensburg in the first half of a match this season.

Shippensburg (7-0) responded quickly, scoring just two minutes later, to tie the game.

The Raiders then capitalized on their momentum, scoring again in the 29th minute to take a 2–1 lead into halftime.

After the break, both teams displayed strong defensive efforts. Despite seven combined penalty corners in the third quarter, neither side scored, and the Raiders maintained their 2–1 advantage heading into the final frame.

Mansfield entered the fourth quarter, earning five penalty corners and taking five shots. However, the Mountaineers were unable to convert, and the Raiders secured the 2–1 victory.
