MANSFIELD Pa. - Jeff Limoncelli was named assistant coach for the Mansfield Mountaineers baseball program, announced by Head Coach Andrew Chalot Tuesday (Sept. 9).
"We are fortunate and excited to add Coach Limoncelli to the staff. He is known and respected at all levels of baseball. He brings energy excitement, knowledge, and he makes us immediately better." Chalot stated. "Most importantly he is a winner. He arrives fresh off a state championship in New York and a championship in the Cape Cod League"
A native of Elmira, N.Y., Limoncelli joins the program, bringing with him over three decades of coaching excellence, he amassed over 400 career wins during his 27-year tenure as head coach at Horseheads High School. During his tenure, he led Horseheads to 11 Section 4 championships, two state titles (1999, 2025), and built one of the most consistent and disciplined programs in the northeast.
As a player, he played baseball at both the University of South Carolina Aiken and the University of West Florida. In 1989, he signed with the Boston Red Sox and began his professional career as an infielder with the Elmira Pioneers of the New York-Penn League. He went on to play three and a half seasons in the Red Sox farm system.
