MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mountaineer Athletic department announced the winners for the Scholar-Athletes of the Year at the Mountie Awards ceremony on Wednesday (Apr. 30) afternoon. 

This year's winners were junior Emma Wonsick from the Mansfield softball team and senior Jacob Houtz from the Mansfield baseball team.  During her season with the softball program, Wonsick maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her junior season. Attaining 91 credits total for her degree in biology, she also was honored with the labels of a D2 ADA Academic Achievement athlete this past year and has been a PSAC Scholar-Athlete in both of her years. Houtz was nothing short of exemplary as a student-athlete during his time with the baseball program. With a 3.85 GPA, he earned a degree in criminal justice with 119 credits and was also mentioned as a D2 ADA Academic Achievement athlete for his second time and a PSAC Scholar-Athlete for the third time this past year.
