LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Mansfield Mountaineers softball team started the second half of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with Lock Haven (11-17, 5-13 PSAC East) on Wednesday (Apr. 9) afternoon, with the Bald Eagles defended their nest, earning the shutout in the 7-0 game one victory and the 9-1 game two win.
GAME 1: Lock Haven 7 - Mansfield 0
Lock Haven rushed out to a quick 2-0 edge after grabbing a run in each of the first two innings, using their home field advantage.Â
After adding another run in the fifth inning, the Bald Eagles collected four more runs in the sixth inning to seal off the 7-0 start.Â
Mansfield (6-20, 4-14 PSAC East) accumulated seven hits in the first game, including Melissa Demo with three from the leadoff spot.Â
GAME 2: Lock Haven 9 - Mansfield 1 (5 innings)
The Mounties started off with a bases jammed hit by pitch during Alex Reisinger's at-bat to score the first run of game two in the top of the third.Â
Lock Haven mustered up three runs in the bottom half to take the 3-1 lead.Â
A grand slam and five hits in the bottom of the fourth cemented the host's doubleheader sweep in a 9-1 victory.Â

Mansfield return home to face their fourth nationally ranked team of the season against No. 16 Kutztown on Friday (Apr. 11). First pitch against the Golden Bears is scheduled for 2 p.m., followed by game two with the Eastern Division foe expected to start at 4 p.m.
