JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- The Mansfield baseball team (13-24, 7-13 PSAC East) traveled to Pitt-Johnstown for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference cross-division match-up with the Mountain Cats of UPJ (13-26, 4-16 PSAC West).

The Mounties capitalized on an early pass ball to take a 1-0 lead in the first.

UPJ scored four in the bottom of the second inning, scoring three on a bases-clearing double to take a 4-1 lead.

Cole Serfass doubled down the right field line to get one back in the top of the third, and
Jacob Houtz scored on an error by the Pitt-Johnstown shortstop to cut the Mansfield deficit to one.

UPJ added four more in the bottom half of the third, and the last two were thanks to a two-RBI double to right-center.

Ryan Scott singled home
Kahale Burns in the fourth to cut into the Johnstown lead.
Luke Raho added another in the inning with his RBI single through the right side.

Ryan Verbonitz got Mansfield back within two in the fifth with an RBI double to bring home Houtz.

Pitt-Johnstown added seven runs across the sixth and seventh innings to take a 15-6 lead into the eighth.
Â
Houtz drove in a run with his walk in the eighth, but the Mounties couldn't rally and fell, 15-7, in Tuesday's cross-division clash.
