SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Mansfield (13-23, 7-13 PSAC East) traveled to Shippensburg on Saturday (Apr. 19) to finish their four-game set with the Raiders (22-18, 9-11 PSAC East).
 
Game One: Shippensburg 5, Mansfield 2
 
Shane Stossel and 
Jacob Houtz started the scoring in game one with back-to-back RBI doubles to take an early 2-0 lead over the Raiders.
 
Shippensburg got one back in the bottom half of the first to cut the Mansfield lead in half.
 
The second RBI single for the Raiders tied the game in the bottom of the second.
 
SU took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth thanks to an error by the Mountie defense.
 
An RBI double and an RBI single for Shippensburg extended their lead to three in the fifth, as they had scored five unanswered since the quick Mountaineer start.
 
Garrett Emerick started for Mansfield, throwing 5.0 innings, allowing three earned runs, and striking out one.
 
Luke Raho relieved Emerick in the sixth and pitched a scoreless inning after the Mountie defense erased a lead-off single via a double play.
 
Trailing 5-2 entering the final inning, Mansfield got one on but couldn't rally and dropped game one.
 
Game Two: Mansfield 9, Shippensburg 6
 
A 
Hunter Smith sac-fly that scored 
Ryan Sekulski again gave the Mounties a first-inning lead.
 
A Stossel sac-fly and a Houtz single pushed the Mansfield advantage to 3-0 over Shippensburg.
 
Ryan Verbonitz brought home two more in the third with his two-RBI single that knocked out the Raiders starter and put the Mounties up five.
 
SU got one back in the bottom half on a sac-fly, shrinking the Mansfield lead to 5-1.
 
A bases-clearing double in the fourth from 
Cole Serfass broke the game open, and 
Mike Biuso followed with an RBI single as the Mountaineers led 9-1 after four.
 
Tyler Swineford started game two on the bump for Mansfield and went 4.0 innings of one-run ball, while allowing just three hits and striking out three.
 
Shippensburg responded with four runs (all unearned) off of Mountie reliever 
Austin Lewis in the bottom of the fifth to pull back to within four.
 
Shippensburg scored another unearned run off Lewis in the sixth to make it 9-6 in favor of the Mountaineers going into the seventh.
 
Lewis finished the game going, strikeout, flyout, groundout, after a lead-off walk to secure the game two victory.
