MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Mansfield Mountaineers softball team hosted their fourth straight home Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader with West Chester (28-13, 14-10 PSAC East) on Friday (Apr. 18) afternoon, ending in a sweep for the Golden Rams in a 10-2 game one victory and a 9-5 game two win.
GAME 1: West Chester 10 - Mansfield 2 (5 innings)
Through the first two innings, West Chester piled up three runs for the early lead.
Mansfield (8-26, 6-20 PSAC East) found the first run across home plate via a Caydence Macik homer in the second to limit the lead to 3-1.
Over the next three innings, the Golden Rams used four home runs to power out to a 10-1 advantage.
Sarah Shupp's RBI double sent Melissa Demo around the diamond, but West Chester finished off the contest with the 10-2 win.
GAME 2: West Chester 9 - Mansfield 5
WCU started out with a commanding 5-0 advantage after the first inning.
Sarah Shupp posted the first run for the Mounties with a solo blast to the scoreboard in the bottom of the first.
In a bases loaded situation, the Mountaineers evened the game back to 5-5 after the third. Alex Reisinger singled in the jammed situation and Kylie Bornman cleared the bases with a left field line drive.
Four late runs for the Golden Rams saved the softball sweep as West Chester snuck out a 9-5 victory.

Mansfield will host Shepherd tomorrow, Saturday (Apr. 19), to finish off five straight home doubleheaders. First pitch against the Golden Rams is scheduled for 11 a.m., followed by game two with the Eastern Division foe expected to start at 1 p.m.
