CARY, N.C. - The Mountaineer baseball team (4-6) played a doubleheader against No. 11 ranked Southern New Hampshire University (7-3) on Saturday (Mar. 8) afternoon.Â
GAME ONE
The Penmen jumped on the Mounties early in game one scoring five runs in the first inning.

Southern New Hampshire added another seven in the second to take a commanding 12-0 lead.Â

The Penmen added another 12 over the last seven innings putting up 24 in the first game.Â
Â
Mansfield scored three runs over the Last four innings, highlighted by a Jacob Houtz RBI single in the sixth capping his 2-4 day in game one.Â

GAME TWO
Â
Game two started with Southern New Hampshire once again building a large lead as they took a 9-0 advantage after the first.Â
Â
The Mansfield bats started to come alive in the third when they scored two, as Cole Serfass had an RBI single and scored on a wild pitch.
Â
SNHU added another run by the fifth inning before the Mountaineers began to cut into the deficit scoring five in their half of the fifth.
Â
Ryan Scott finished the inning with a two RBI single to left, making the score 10-7 in favor of the Penmen.
Â
SNHU scored their final three runs in the bottom of the fifth, stretching their advantage to 13-7.
Â
In the seventh inning, Mansfield scored seven runs to take a 14-13 lead.Â
Â
Ryan Sekulski started the inning with an RBI double to left scoring Jeffrey Coakley.

Mike Biuso followed with a RBI single that brought home Scott.Â
Â
Houtz and Serfass each doubled in a run to make it a two run game.Â
Â
With the score 13-11, Hunter Smith blasted a three-run home run to finish the scoring and put the Mounties ahead.Â
Â
Mason Pfeil picked up his second win of the season after throwing 2.1 innings and striking out four Penmen hitters.
