LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Jacob Houtz has earned the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week after their conference opening weekend against Kutztown, announced by the conference on Monday (Mar. 24) afternoon.
Houtz was a key part in Mansfield's weekend with Kutztown University. On the weekend, the senior accumulated a .714 (10-14) batting average, five doubles, six extra-base hits, five runs, and 11 RBIs, and a solo shot at the plate. In game four of the series, Houtz went 3 for 4, with six RBIs and two runs. All three hits were for extra bases and bolstered the chance for the Mounties to score 17 runs in the game.Â
His six RBIs stand as his career game high along with tying his game high of three doubles.
The senior currently leads the team in average (.500), slugging (.968), hits (31), RBIs (26), runs (19), extra base hits (17), doubles (11), and home runs (6). His average, slugging, on-base percentage, total bases, double, and OPS leads the conference, while also tied for third in home runs, third in RBIs, and fifth in hits.
