WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Mansfield Mountaineers Men's track and field team finish seventh out of 21 teams at the Purple and Gold Invite, hosted by West Chester University on Saturday, Mar. 22.
Cahsid Raymond performed in the first event of the day,100-meter dash with a time of 11.05 leaving him in second place earning the team eight points. He was followed by teammate
Ajani Gibson placing 46
th in 12.58 seconds.Â
The next race for Mansfield was the 400-meter dash where
Ibrahim Sheriff and Jonathan McDannell took places at 23
rd with 55.70 and 27
th 55.97.
A battle broke out during the 1500 meter between
Noah Shedden (19
th-4:25.36),
Nathaniel Welch (20
th-4:25.46),
Seth Neal (11
th-4:18.16),
Rylan Ebner (46
th-4:43.52) and
Greysen Kupsky (55
th-4:57.27).
The 4 x 100 meter team of Pius Adomako,
Jerry Holmes Jr., Gibson and Raymond finished in seventh with a time of 48.28 adding two points to the teams score.
Adomako also ran the 200 meter taking 25th with a time of 23.99. Adomako was accompanied by Holmes Jr. placing 39
th at 24.59, Gibson taking 54
th at 25.21,and
Joshua Culver finishing 66
th with 26.88.
Jackson Doughty competed in the 800 meter with teammates Shedden, Ebner and Kupsky. Doughty placed 24
th with 2:17.21, Shedden 11
th with 2:09.03, Ebner 26
th with 2:18.16 and Kupsky 37
th with 2:28.83.Â
Collecting another four points, the 4 x 400 meter team of Inman, Neal, Welch and Sheriff finalized their time of 3:40.15 finishing fifth.
Culver started the field events for the Mounties with a jump of  5.16 meters which placed him 18
th place.
Khyre Inman joined the team in his first meet pole vaulting where he took third with a height of 3.15 meters, gaining six points to add to the overall. With that mark he now holds the seventh best height in program history.
Marcus Quaker premiered as a thrower for the meet placing 14
th (30.74 meters) in discus, eighth (11.03 meters) in shot put and first with a mark of 49.67 in javelin. Quaker earned the team 12 points after competing in javelin and shot put. The mark of 11.03 places Quaker at the 9
th furthest distance in the history of the program.
Michael Beals debuted in discus for the first time in his collegiate career, placing 25
th with a distance of 18.12 meters.
Holmes and Adomako made a reappearance side by side in high jump finishing 2
nd with a mark of 1.90 meters and 6th with 1.80 meters. Not only was Holmes mark a personal best but allowed him to qualify for the PSAC Championship in May. Holmes is now tied for the third highest jump in program history.
