SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Mountaineers men's basketball team (8-19, 5-15 PSAC East) traveled to Shippensburg on Saturday (Mar. 1) afternoon for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division match-up against the Shippensburg University Raiders (10-18, 7-14 PSAC East). 

Nasir Brown led the team with 16 points on 5-7 shooting. Lleyton Fried added 10 points and had seven rebounds.

The first five minutes of the game was jump started in favor of the Raiders with a quick 6-3 lead, with Owen Chambers scoring the first points for the Mounties. 

The ambition of both teams was low, but picked up with 9:46 left to go after a layup by Brown cutting the lead to 12-11.

Shippensburg struck back expanding the lead by three more points.  Fried sunk in one of his own at 7:24 gaining the lead for the first time for Mansfield.

With about five minutes left in the first half, Diarmid Stewart completed a three-point play taking the Mounties up at 23-20.

Just under two minutes, Mansfield continued stretching the lead, putting 31-24 up on the scoreboard going into the break.

Right out of the gate Shippensburg picked up eight points, taking back over.

At the 10-minute mark, the Mountaineers had a strong 16-12 run, fighting hard against the Raiders.

Both teams had fought back and forth for the lead for until there was five minutes left in the half. 

Mansfield was unable to come back from the eagerness of Shippensburg, rounding out their season with the final game score of 75-59.

This concludes the 2024-25 Mountaineer season.
