MANSFIELD, Pa. –Â
Cydney Stanton erupted the crowd with her game winning jumper with 1.2 seconds remaining to give the Mansfield Mountaineer women's basketball team (9-12, 5-10 PSAC East) the victory over the Bloomsburg Huskies (14-8, 8-7 PSAC East) in Wednesday (Feb 5) night's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup.
Stanton scored a team-high and season-high 19 points, including ten in the final quarter and added six rebounds. Â
Katie Sheeler added 16 points, while knocking down three second half three pointers.
Sheeler opened the game with layup off a back door pass from
Danae Ellzy.Â
Mansfield held an early eight-point lead at the first media timeout thanks to a quick six points by
Sarah Hortin with the Mounties holding the 15-7 advantage.
Bloomsburg battled back and cut the Mountie lead down to two (17-15) at the end of the first quarter.Â
At the break, the Huskies led 30-26, winning the second quarter, 15-9, over the Mountaineers.
Hortin led the team with six points at the half. Stanton and Sheeler each added another five to help pace the Mounties.
Mansfield reclaimed the lead early in the third quarter and held a four-point advantage of the quarter's media timeout with the 41-37 edge.
Through three quarters of play, the Mountaineers clung to a slim 44-43 lead as Sheeler knocked down two threes in the quarter.
Back-to-back-to-back layups from Stanton to start the fourth pushed the Mansfield lead out to five at 50-45.Â
The Huskies answered with an 11-2 run, following their timeout, to go up 56-52 with under five minutes to play.Â
Kenedy Stroup stepped to the line and cut the deficit down to three with just 3:14 to go in regulation.
The Mountaineers took the lead on Sheeler's third made three of the night at the 1:37 mark to hold the 58-56 advantage.
Bloomsburg answered with a layup on the other end to tie the game at 58 apiece.Â
After a missed three, Stanton ripped down the offensive rebound and laid it in to take a 60-58 lead with 39 seconds left.Â
The Huskies tied the game with 18.5 seconds remaining left after turning the corner off a high ball screen and getting to the rim to score.Â
Coming out of the Mansfield timeout, Stanton got her turnaround jumper to fall, lifting the Mountaineers ahead with 1.2 seconds to go.Â
Bloomsburg's lob play was broken up by Hortin at the buzzer as the Mountaineers held on to take down the Huskies, 62-60.

Due to pending inclement weather, the Mountaineers will now face West Chester on Saturday (Feb. 8) with an earlier time for the PSAC Eastern Division battle. Tip-off is now scheduled for 11 a.m.
