SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. - The Mountaineers men's basketball team (8-17, 5-14 PSAC East) traveled to West Virginia on Wednesday (Feb. 19) night for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division match-up against the Shepherd University Rams (16-9, 12-6 PSAC East).
Ty Crespo led Mansfield in scoring with 14 points on 6-11 shooting.
Diarmid Stewart added 13 points and led the team with seven rebounds.
Mansfield trailed by three at the first media timeout after each side traded early baskets.
Coming out of the break, the Rams went on an 11-2 run to extend their lead to 12.
The Mountaineers got within four at the 7:35 mark before Shepherd stretched their lead back to ten with just under five minutes to go in the first half.
At the half, the Mounties trailed 39-24 as Stewart led the way with seven points. Owen Chambers added six, going 2-4 from three in the first 20 minutes of play.
By the midway mark of the second half, the Rams held a 23-point lead over the Mountaineers.
Shepherd continued to grow their lead late in the second half as the Mounties fell on the road in Shepherdstown.
