Raymond Sets Two Records to Open Indoor Track Season

HOUGHTON, N.Y. - Cahsid Raymond claimed two school records to highlight the Mansfield Mountaineer men's track and field team's season opener, at the Houghton December Classic, on Friday Dec. 5. 
 
Raymond opened the day running a 6.88 second 60-meter dash, breaking the record set by Sean Ringgold in 2023. He would finish fifth after running a 6.94 in the finals. It is a PSAC qualifying mark and 0.06 seconds off an NCAA provisional time.
 
His second record of the meet was in the long jump where he would hit a mark of 7.08 on his fifth jump. That broke Kory Warton's record of 6.99 meters set in 2021. That mark was also a PSAC qualifying mark. 
 
In the 60-meter dash, Raymond was joined by Dorrian McCargo, Lovett Davenport, Jerry Holmes Jr., Pius Adomako Jr., and Antonio Green Jr. who finished with times of 7.26, 7.31, 7.46,7.49, and 7.64 seconds respectively. 
 
Holmes and Adomako returned for the high jump where they finished third and seventh. Holmes hit a personal best 1.88 meters rising him to the third best mark in program history. Adomako hit a personal best mark of 1.78 meters, tying him at the seventh best mark in program history.
 
In the long jump, Raymond was joined by Dominic Bill, Joseph Frye, Ajani Gibson, and Davenport. Bill hit a best jump of 6.24, which is the sixth best in program history. Frye, Gibson, and Davenport hit best jumps of 5.90, 5.81, and 5.32 meters. 
 
The quartet of McCargo, Bill, Fry and Raymond took victory in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:33.75.
 
Calvin Cragle claimed his first colligate win in his first career meet in the shot put. His top mark came on his final throw hitting 15.75 meters. It is the second-best mark in program history and a PSAC qualifying mark. He was joined by fellow freshman Joey Biviano, who finished 16th with a mark of 11.58. 
 
The pair returned for the weight throw, Cragle best mark was 10.59 meters and Biviano's best mark was 10.49. They are good for fourth and fifth best marks in program history.
 
Freshman Jack Williams and Nic Mattison finished sixth and seventh in the 600-meter run to start their college track careers. Finishing in times of 1:29.78 and 1:33.61. Williams time being the ninth fastest in program history.
 
Noah Shedden opened his season with a seventh-place finish in the 5K, crossing the line in 16:08.47. Derek Simpson, Rylan Ebner, and Greysen Kupsky finished 15th(17:42.92), 16th (17:43.49) and 20th (18:27.97) in the race. 
 
McCargo, Davenport, Khyre Inman, and Green competed in the 200-meter dash, clocking in with times of 23.67, 24.81, 25.66 and 26.30 seconds. 
 
Inman also finished 12th in the pole vault clearing 2.95 meters.
 
Ibrahim Sheriff finished 18th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.14. 
 
Mattison, Adomako, Sheriff, and Inman finished fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:41.94.
