MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Mansfield University men's basketball team (1–5) competed in non-conference play on Wednesday, Dec. 3, against Bryant & Stratton College (Albany) (1-1), earning a 102–85 victory.
LaQuan Byrd led the Mounties with 25 points, seven rebounds and one assist.
Ty Barrett collected 14 points, three rebounds and one assist.
Mansfield opened the game with early scoring from Byrd and JuJu Pagan but Bryant & Stratton generated an initial lead behind perimeter.
The teams traded possessions through the mid-first half before Mansfield established momentum through transition play.
A 3-pointer from Byrd and consecutive fast-break baskets from Barrett and Diarmid Stewart contributed to a 46–35 Mansfield lead at halftime.
In the second half, Mansfield expanded its advantage through efficient shooting and sustained defensive pressure.
Barrett connected on multiple 3-pointers early in the period, and the Mountaineers produced consistent scoring in transition, highlighted by fast-break layups from David Hill and Stewart.
Mansfield shot 61% from the field in the second half and outscored Bryant & Stratton 56–50, securing the 102–85 final.
Mansfield finished with 46 rebounds, 22 assists, and 35 fast-break points, while recording 20 points off turnovers.
