INDIANA, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers dropped a PSAC crossover road contest to #10 IUP, by a score of 110-48, on Tuesday, Dec. 16
Katie Sheeler was the leading scorer for the Mountaineers netting 16 points, and was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. Sheeler also pulled down six rebounds to lead the team.
The Mounties (2-7,0-2 PSAC) attempted to find the outside shot early with Sheeler and K.J. Gordan connecting for the first Mansfield points. The Crimson Hawks (7-0,1-0 PSAC) were able to use a strong offense to net 20 points in the meantime. Mansfield responded to the run trading baskets in the final minutes of the first quarter but found themselves down 25-12.
 In the second quarter, IUP continued the offensive on slot, scoring 26 points in the quarter. The Mountaineers struggled to find an offensive rhythm shooting 0-5 from the arc and Sheeler picking up three fouls. Mansfield trailed 51-22 at the half.
IUP used a big run in the third quarter to cement the game for the number ten team in the country, scoring 29 more points, including a 16-0 run. They continued that steam into the fourth quarter, taking the game by a score of 110- 48.
The Mountaineers return to action on Saturday, Dec. 20 as they welcome PSAC West opponent Seton Hill. It is also Basketball Alumni Day.
