MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team (4-6, 1-2 PSAC) completed their season sweep on Saturday (Oct. 4) afternoon over Frostburg State (2-9, 0-3 PSAC), with this Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest serving as the Mounties first conference victory of the season, winning 5-3.
Jenna Duke picked up her third career hat trick for Mansfield and now has ten goals on the season, with her first goal starting off the game in the first quarter, with an assist from
Kiley Stoltzfus.
Under five minutes remaining in the half,
Amanda Ray doubled the red and black's lead, before FSU responded a minute later with the Mountaineers retaining the 2-1 edge before halftime.Â
Frostburg State evened the scoreboard with a Bobcat blast two minutes into the second half.Â
In the final fifteen, a trifecta of goals boosted Mansfield to their first PSAC victory of the season.Â
Kaylie Ranere used a
Melanie Esh assist to retake the 3-2 advantage for the Mounties. Assisted by Ray, Duke found her second goal 55 seconds after to push out to a two-goal advantage.Â
After the host found their third goal 51 seconds later, Duke capitalized with the insurance goal under five minutes remaining to complete the season sweep of Frostburg State, 5-3.Â
