EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team (5-10, 1-6 PSAC) faced a tough challenge on Wednesday evening, dropping a 4–1 decision to nationally ranked No. 4 East Stroudsburg (13-2, 4-2 PSAC).
East Stroudsburg opened the competitive play early with a goal eight minutes into the first quarter.
Mansfield responded in the second quarter when Amanda Duke weaved through defenders for a slap shot tying the game at 1-1 before the half.
Despite a gritty defensive stand and several shot attempts, the Mountaineers could not break through against East Stroudsburg's disciplined back line.
The Warriors regained the lead in the fourth quarter, adding three goals to seal the win.
