SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team drop away contest to nationally ranked No. 2 Shippensburg (14-2, 6-2 PSAC).
The Raiders struck first with a goal in the second quarter to hold a 1-0 lead at the break.Â
Mansfield (5-11, 1-7 PSAC) responded early in the third when Ella du Plessis connected with Jenna Duke for the equalizer, providing the Mounties with needed momentum.
Shippensburg quickly countered with a second goal later in the third quarter to reclaim the advantage.Â
The Raiders extended their lead with another score in the fourth to close out the game, 4-1.
