MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team fell in overtime, 2-1, to the Indiana (PA) Crimson Hawks on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Ella du Plessis scored her third goal of the season and
Lydia Miller made three saves for the Mountaineers (5-8 (1-3 PSAC)).
The teams were locked at a stalemate at the half before the tie was finally broken by the Crimson Hawks (5-5 (1-3 PSAC) in the final two minutes of the third quarter, to lead 1-0.
Mansfield would counter back drawing a corner with nine seconds remaining in the third quarter. Â The Mountaineers would tie the game with a score by du Plessis as time expired, to make it 1-1.
The teams would bring the contest into overtime. The Crimson Hawks would end the game less than two minutes into overtime as Jess Davidson would score the Golden Goal to win 2-1.
