Mounties Surrender Late Lead at #8 Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest, on the road against Millersville 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Kiley Stoltzfus had the lone goal for the Mounties (5-7, 1-3). Jenna Duke had an assist and three shots on goal. Lydia Miller had four saves.

Mansfield was able to break the stalemate in the final three minutes of the first half using a counterattack and a quick pass from Duke to Stoltzfus. Mansfield went into the half with a 1-0 lead.

Neither team found the cage in the third period despite chances. Both teams had three penalty corners a piece, but only Millersville (7-5, 3-1) forced the goalie to make a pair of saves.

In the final quarter, Millersville tied the game early using a relentless attack, tying the game 1-1, three minutes in.

The Marauders would take the lead after drawing a second penalty stroke in the quarter, and converting, to go up 2-1.  The Mounties were held without a shot after the go-ahead goal.
