Mansfield Soccer Falls to West Chester

MANSFIELD, Pa. - Mansfield Women's soccer (0-2-3, 0-2-1 PSAC East) hosted the West Chester Golden Rams (3-2-0, 2-2-0 PSAC East) on Saturday (Sept. 21) night at Karl Van Norman.

West Chester got the game's opening goal in the 13th minute after a third chance in front of goal found the right side of the net.

Mansfield's first chance came after a Katelyn Rueppel through ball was run onto by Riley Bittenbender whose shot was saved by the Golden Rams goalkeeper.

Back-to-back saves from Mansfield keeper Alyssa Shuman kept the game at 1-0 but a quick change in possession allowed WCU to extend their lead to two.

Sam Kozminski had a long-range shot that required a sprawling save by the West Chester net-minder to maintain their two-goal advantage.

The Golden Rams' third of the half came from outside the box as WCU continued to apply pressure on the Mansfield defense.

The fourth of the half came from just outside the box's right edge, beating the Mansfield keeper to the far right side of the cage.

The Golden Rams added their fifth and final goal in the 77th minute to close out the game.

Mansfield Goalie Serenity Esterline subbed on at halftime and made six saves as the Mounties dropped their home conference contest by a final score of 5-0.
