Duke's Double Goal Day Highlights No. 10 Mountaineers Victory at D'Youville

The Mansfield field hockey team continued their winning ways on Wednesday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Jenna Duke scored two goals and grabbed an assist as the No. 10 Mansfield Mountaineer field hockey team (4-1) used their offensive power, blasting 23 shots en route to a 4-1 win over the D'Youville Saints (3-3).

D'Youville jumped out to an early lead, sending in their first goal from the stick of two former Mansfield alumni in Kelsey Robertson scoring, with Alexis Schleef providing the assist.

The Mounties evened the scoring, off a Sophia Vadnais penalty corner that she scored off a deflection to finish the first quarter scoring.

Mansfield sent seven shots at the Saints goal and posted five penalty corners in the second quarter but could not rattle the cage as the host and the Mounties went into halftime, tied at 1-1.

Once the Mountaineers took the lead, the host never regained control as Ashtyn Price scored the first of the season in the first three minutes of the half, using a great pass from Duke to take control of the game. Duke doubled the scoring in the third quarter, sending her first goal of the afternoon in the cage to hold the 3-1 advantage before the final quarter, with an assist from Leah Toskey.

Off the first penalty corner in the fourth quarter, Duke's first shot soared right past the goalie and finalized the scoring as No. 10 Mansfield posted their second four goal game, winning 4-1.

16 shots on goal and 13 penalty corners were recorded for the Mounties, including five players recording two shots on goal in Kenedy Stroup landing four, Price and Duke at 3, followed by Katie Marchiani and Vadnais rounding out at two.
