Mountaineers Close Out Weekend at No. 15 East Stroudsburg

The Mansfield softball team hosted Sunday afternoon softball.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers softball team (11-15, 2-14 PSAC East) traveled for their fourth straight series of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action with No. 15 East Stroudsburg (29-7, 11-3 PSAC East) on Sunday afternoon, but the nationally ranked Warriors swept the weekend series, 20-2 and 6-1. 

With her 75th appearance, Danielle Goff moved into 3rd all-time in program history, passing Kristen Dean.

GAME 1: #15 East Stroudsburg 20 – Mansfield 2 (5 innings) 

ESU got right to work, notching four early runs in the first inning, including a two-run home run. A 12-run inning followed in the second to post a 16-0 advantage for the Warriors.  

In the top of the third, Gabby Drumm and Carly Wywoda each sent back-to-back solo shots to center field to cement the Mounties two runs on the day.  

East Stroudsburg added four more runs to finish off the contest, 20-2.  

Drumm picked up two hits on the day, while Wywoda and Melissa Demo picked up a hit each. 

GAME 2: #15 East Stroudsburg 6 – Mansfield 1 

Mansfield took the early lead off Anastasia Berardi's fielder's choice that brought in Kayla Vonstein.  

Three runs glowed up on the scoreboard for the Warriors in the bottom of the first to take the 3-1 lead. ESU added another run in the bottom of the second with an RBI single. 

Two more runs were scored by the Warriors in the bottom of the sixth to close out the doubleheader with a 6-1 game two victory.

Annabella Putnam struck out seven on the day. Drumm led the team with two hits and Caydence Macik and Wywoda each collected a hit.

UP NEXT:  
Finishing out their long road stretch, the Mounties visit Bloomsburg for a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday, April 9. First pitch from Jan. M. Hutchinson Field is scheduled for 2 p.m.
