Mansfield Bested in Final Road Doubleheader at West Chester

The Mansfield softball team closed out their road portion of their season on Saturday afternoon.

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – In the final road series of the 2024 season, the Mansfield Mountaineers softball team (11-19, 2-18 PSAC East) visited Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opponent West Chester (23-14, 11-7 PSAC East) to end their travel for the season. The Golden Rams swept the Saturday afternoon, 8-0 and 9-1.
 
GAME 1: West Chester 8 – Mansfield 0 (5 innings)
 
West Chester marked their first run in the second inning, dropping the early RBI single. Doubling their score in the bottom of the third, another RBI single put them up 2-0 before a two-run shot.
 
The Golden Rams added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to earn the PSAC Eastern Division victory, 8-0.
 
Danielle Ciliberto was credited with a no-hitter, earning her 13th victory on the season, finishing with ten strikeouts.
 
GAME 2: West Chester 9 – Mansfield 1 (5 innings)
 
Four runs were posted in the first inning for WCU to hold the 4-0 edge.
 
The second inning saw a copy in the second inning as the Golden Rams knocked in four more runs to increase their lead to 8-0, including a solo home run.
 
Mansfield's lone run came from Gabby Drumm's RBI single to score Kayla Vonstein in the top of the third inning.
 
A final blast for West Chester earned the 9-1 victory and the Saturday sweep.
 
UP NEXT: 
Mansfield returns to Helen Lutes for the remainder of the season with six series remaining in conference action, starting with Millersville on Monday, April 15. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
