MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers softball team (11-5, 2-4 PSAC East) hosted Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opponent, the West Chester Golden Rams (15-8, 4-2 PSAC East), on Monday afternoon. The Golden Rams took game one with a 5-4 victory over the Mountaineers, but Mansfield walked it off against the Golden Rams for an extra innings game two win, 5-4.
GAME 1: West Chester 5 - Mansfield 4
Fallon Kelley opened the scoring for the Mounties with an RBI double, driving in Melissa Demo in the bottom of the first.
To start off the third, Kelley recorded another RBI double. Caydence Macik followed, sending her first home run of the season over the fence to give the Mounties a 4-0 lead going into the top of the fourth.
The Golden Rams battled back and put up five runs in the fourth and fifth inning, giving West Chester the chance to close out the game, which they did to earn the 5-4 game one victory.
Danielle Goff started her day off in the circle, posting a shutout through the first four innings and finished with one earned run and three strikeouts.
GAME 2: Mansfield 5 - West Chester 4 (9 innings)
Kelley struck first for the Mounties in game two with a two-run shot over the left field wall.
Kayla Vonstein drove in the third run of game two with an RBI double to put the Mounties up by two runs in the bottom of the second.
West Chester put two runs on the board in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 3-3.
Demo led off the bottom of the fifth with a triple but the Mountaineers would leave her stranded
Both teams remained tied going into the seventh inning. Mansfield stranded three runners in the bottom of the seventh, sending the contest into extra innings.
With the game still tied in the top of the ninth and runners on second and third for West Chester, Vonstein fired a strike to home plate to cut down the runner and keep the game tied.
The Golden Rams managed to push across one in the inning however and took a 4-3 lead.
Vonstein put momentum back on the side of the Mountaineers with a long homerun to left-center, tying the game at four.
Kelley sent her second long ball of the day over the left-field fence on a two-strike count to give the Mounties the win in game two.
Annabella Putnam started in the circle for game two giving up only two earned runs. Putnam ended the game throwing over 180 pitches and nine strikeouts.

To finish off three straight days of action, tomorrow's doubleheader on Helen Lutes Field will take place at 2 and 4 p.m. against the Bloomsburg Huskies.
