Before today's contest the Mountaineers celebrated three very special seniors who have helped build the men's basketball program. Idris Ali led the Mounties with a total of 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Michael Dickson scored a total of 12 points and swatted two shots.
Gabe Perez opened the scoring with a three-pointer, putting the Mountaineers on the board.
The Golden Rams came right back with a three of their own from the right-wing, tying the game at 3.
Both teams kept the game close early as West Chester led 19-17 at the ten minute mark of the first half.
I. Ali gave the Mountaineers a slim one-point advantage, knocking down his first three of the game with just under ten to go in the half.
The Golden Rams controlled the remaining of the first, going on an extended 27-12 run to close out the half with a 46-32 lead.
Mansfield was unable to find a sustained run to get back in the game as West Chester held as much of a 40-point lead late in the second half.
West Chester closed out the game and win by a final score of 97-63.
Despite the loss, the Mountaineers locked themselves into the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs with Bloomsburg's loss to Shepherd. This is the men's first trip to the postseason since the 2012-13 season.
