MANSFIELD, Pa. - The No. 9 Mansfield Mountaineer field hockey team (7-4) scored their most goals of the season as the Mounties defeated Roberts Wesleyan (0-10), 7-0, behind three different goal scorers on Wed. (Oct. 9) afternoon.
The Mountaineers came into the game with a strong offensive presence taking eight shots and three corners against Roberts Wesleyan in the first quarter.
In the 23
rd minute,
Amanda Duke took a shot off a corner flicking it right into the goal of the Redhawks, paving the way for the rest of her team. Leading the team into the second half with a score of 1-0.
Kenedy Stroup started the team off strong in the second quarter by scoring a goal of her own, in the 34
th minute of play. Allowing Mansfield to gain 2-0 lead.
Scoring her first goal of the day,
Jenna Duke scored the third goal of the game in the 39
th minute.
As goals started piling up for the Mounties, the Duke sisters collected two double hat tricks ending the game 7-0.
With this win,
August Lewis has now tied the program record for most career wins by a goalkeeper, currently at 32 wins.
Amanda and
Jenna Duke both ended the afternoon with their first hat tricks in their careers.
