MANSFIELD, Pa. - Mansfield soccer (0-13-3, 0-13-1 PSAC East) was defeated by nationally ranked No. 16 Shepherd University (10-1-4, 10-1-2 PSAC East) by a final score of 3-0 in Wednesday's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup.
The best chance in the first half came in the 16th minute from Mansfield when Kerrah Clymer found herself one-on-one with the Rams goalie but couldn't get a shot off.
With five seconds to go in the first half, Shepherd had a free kick that forced the Mansfield keeper to make a save and end the half.
At halftime, Mansfield and Shepherd were tied 0-0, and Mountaineer goalkeeper Alyssa Shuman made two saves in the first half.
The Rams got the game's opening goal in the 55th minute and their second just two minutes later to take a 2-0 lead.
In the 63rd minute, Shepherd extended their lead to three, this one coming from the right side of the box, driving a shot into the corner of the net.
Shuman finished with eight saves, her tenth game this season with over five saves.
Clymer led the Mounties in shot attempts with two.
Jakayla Holmes and Taylar Luckenbill each had one shot on goal.
