MANSFIELD, Pa. - In a crucial playoff seeding decider, the No. 9 Mansfield Mountaineer field hockey team (10-7, 4-4 PSAC) hosted No. 4 Bloomsburg (13-4, 5-3 PSAC) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest on Tuesday afternoon. Looking to lock a playoff spot, the Mountaineers' comeback attempt in the final minutes came up short as the Huskies strengthened their chances of hosting a playoff game, winning the Tuesday tussle, 1-0.
The Huskies came into the first quarter with a strong offensive pressure with five shots, three of which were on goal.
The Mountaineers responded with two of their own shots but were unable to produce a goal.
Both teams defenses held strong as the time ticked down in the second quarter.
Bloomsburg's offense took the lead over the Mounties in the 31st minute of play with their first goal coming off of a penalty corner.
The Mountaineers best chance came in the fourth quarter when
Kaylie Ranere barely missed the
Kenedy Stroup pass allowing the ball to slide wide left.
Ella Du Plessis lead the team with a total of 2 shots on goal.
August Lewis had six saves on the day.

Mansfield hosts Millersville in their final regular season game of the season on Friday, November 1 with a 3 p.m. start. For the Mounties, if the Marauders are defeated on Wednesday (Oct. 30) night, the Mountaineers will have clinched their second straight postseason appearance. If Millersville, wins Wednesday, Friday's contest will serve as a win and advance game for both teams into the PSAC postseason.
