Mansfield Bested by Lock Haven in PSAC Play

MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Mansfield soccer team (0-9-3, 0-9-1 PSAC East) hosted Lock Haven (2-7-3, 2-7-1 PSAC East) on Wednesday (Oct. 16) afternoon for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division contest.

Lock Haven got the game's opening goal in the 32nd minute from sophomore Aleigha Rieppel.

Mansfield controlled most of the first half excluding the Bald Eagle goal as they registered 10 shots but could never squeeze one past the Lock goalkeeper.

In the 52nd minute, Lock Haven drew a penalty as they looked to double their lead. Mansfield keeper Alyssa Shuman came up big making the save and corralled the rebound to keep the deficit at one.

Riley Bittenbender found the Mountaineer equalizer in the 65th minute off a deflection in front following a Mansfield shot that redirected off the crossbar over the outstretched Bald Eagle goalie.

Lock Haven got the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to seal the 2-1 victory.

Shuman made four saves after subbing on at the half.

Taylar Luckenbill, Brynn
Knepp, and Bittenbender led the Mountaineers in shots with three each.
