ERIE, Pa. – In their last Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West crossover of the season, the Mansfield Mountaineers men's basketball team (3-8, 1-5 PSAC East) traveled to No. 12 Gannon (11-1, 5-1 PSAC West) to start off the new calendar year, but the Golden Knights spoiled the night, defending their home with a 116-75 victory.
Michael Dickson posted his third straight game with double figures at 13.
Saraj Ali scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Jordan Montgomery went a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond the arc with nine points.
Mansfield had the crowd impressed, breaking out an early 10-2 lead through the first three minutes, causing a quick Gannon timeout. Four points were each scored by S. Ali and Dickson.
After the Mounties jumped out to an 18-11 lead midway through the first half, the Golden Knights found their groove, pushing out 14 unanswered points over just three minutes to take a 25-18 lead.
Gannon finished out the half, shooting 51.5% (17-33) from the field, while holding the Mounties to 8.3% (1-12) from beyond the arc, holding a 47-34 lead at halftime.
Once the teams retook the court, it was all Golden Knight basketball, breaking out to a 73-47 lead and never looking back.
The host finished off the crossover clash, earning another victory on the season, winning 116-75.
