MANSFIELD, Pa.-  The Mansfield Mountaineers women's soccer team hosted a tightly contested Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game against 12th ranked West Chester University on Saturday afternoon, with the Golden Rams escaping with a 1-0 victory.
 
West Chester (3-1-1, 3-1 PSAC East) was able to get the games' one and only goal just 11 minutes in.
 
Mountaineer goalkeeper Samantha Merklin kept the Mounties in it with four first half saves.
 
The Mountaineers (2-3, 1-3 PSAC East) provided continuous pressure in the second half and registered two shots on goal, but the West Chester defense was able to shut the door and claimed the 1-0 conference victory.
 
The Mansfield defense did well to hold the nationally ranked Golden Rams to just one goal.
 
Merklin finished the game with a season-high eight total saves.
 
Senior Kylie Boyer led the way with two shots and one shot on goal for the Mounties. Taylar Luckenbill, Parker Moss, Aleigha Rieppel and Olivia Hudson all had shots for Mansfield.
