EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Mansfield field hockey team (3-0) traveled for a non-conference neutral contest on Saturday afternoon with New Haven (1-3) and posted their second straight shutout, 3-0, to remain undefeated on the season. This game also stood out as a major milestone for one.
Head coach Brittany Hansrote performance today stands as her 50th win as the Mansfield field hockey coach.
Starting off a hot start, the Mounties blasted two goals into the net in the first quarter. Blaise Cugini and Kenedy Stroup placed two goals in, just 51 seconds apart from each other to give Mansfield the early 2-0 lead.
After a dominating team offensive performance throughout the afternoon, Alex Esterling finished off the scoring for the Mounties with her second goal of the season to give the team the 3-0 shutout victory.
The Mounties collected 20 shots on the day, including 11 shots on goal and nine penalty corners. Mansfield erupted for 10 shots alone just in the first quarter.
Stroup also assisted two goals on the day, while Cugini placed five shots on goal throughout the afternoon.
The defensive trio of Hannah Meyer, Riley Kleinfelter, and Sophia Vadnais blanked the Chargers on the scoreboard, helping hold the opponent to just four shots.
August Lewis picked up her third win of the season, including her second shutout of the season. This shutout pulls her to within one more to tie the all-time school record.
This also marks the first back-to-back shutouts for Mansfield since last season, when they completed the same against Mercyhurst and Maryville.

Mansfield will host their 2023 home opener on Wednesday, September 13th. The Mounties face the Raiders for a 4 p.m. start.
