Josh Farina (baseball),
Alivia Paeglow (women's basketball), and
Jordan Miller were named 2022-23 Mansfield Athletics Male and Female Scholar Athletes of the Year, the department announced at the Mountie Awards on Saturday, May 6.

The Mountaineer Athletic Scholar Athlete of the Year is presented to one male and female at the end of each year who possesses the highest GPA with the most credit hours earned. Paeglow and Miller tied in both categories on the women's side. Â

Paeglow, who will graduate with three degrees in early childhood and special education, school psychology and counseling psychology, showcased a perfect 4.0 GPA with 166 credit hours while bringing home the honor for the second year in a row. The senior center started all 25 games she appeared in, finishing second on the team in scoring (10.3 PPG) and rebounding (4.7), while leading the team in field goal percentage (.450).

Miller, who also showcased a perfect 4.0 GPA with 166 credit hours, is graduating with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education. In her second competitive season on the pitch, Miller appeared in 17 games and made seven starts, totaling 747 minutes. Miller fired off seven shots, with two coming on goal.

Farina wins his third straight Scholar of the Year honor after securing a 3.94 GPA with 108 credit hours as a psychology major. Farina appeared in 36 games and made 32 starts in the Mountaineer outfield this season, finishing the year with 26 hits, three doubles, one triple, one homer, 12 runs and 16 RBIs. The senior finished with an on-base and slugging percentage over .300.
