MANSFIELD, Pa. – Mansfield senior Corey Williams was named the 2022-23 winner of the Steve McCloskey Service Award, the athletic office announced at the Mountie Awards on Saturday, May 6.

Named in honor of longtime Mansfield Sports Information Director Steve McCloskey who retired during the spring of 2017, the award is presented annually to a student who embodies the Mansfield University spirit and provides exemplary service to the athletic department.

Williams, who served as a student intern/worker in the Athletic Communication & Marketing office throughout the 2022-23 year, was directly involved in gameday setup, live stating games, producing the Mountie All-Access live feed, producing and hosting Mounties Midweek shows, running camera, writing press releases, creating graphics, graphics, working directly with coaches and more.

"Corey is a very talented student who showed a strong passion working in our office the past two years," Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing Owen Lukens '18 said. "Corey went above and beyond to provide coverage for our student-athletes and he will be greatly missed." 
 
Williams graduated with a 3.103 GPA as a Communications major with a concentration in sports information. The Danville, Pa. native was a two-time member of the Mansfield Dean's List.
