EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Mansfield University baseball team dropped game one of a three-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East series with 14th-ranked East Stroudsburg University, 7-1, on the road on Friday afternoon, March 31.

The Mounties (5-16, 0-10 PSAC East) outhit the Warriors (22-4, 6-1 PSAC East), 8-6, but left more runners on base and committed four errors, while ESU finished with a clean sheet on defense.

The Mounties led 1-0 after two and half innings thanks to an RBI single by Brett Stewart, who drove in Zach Spray.

However, the Warriors took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, before adding insurance runs with three in the seventh and two in the eighth to seal the victory.

Mountaineer starting pitcher Austin Lewis (2-4) was very effective in the loss, limiting the Warriors to two unearned runs on just one hit in six innings, while fanning five.
