Anastasia Berardi and
Caydence Macik each hit a home run to lead the Mansfield University softball team to a final day sweep of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic on Friday, March 17.

Mansfield topped Lycoming College 2-1, and beat University of Maine, Presque Isle by a score of 11-8 in game two.

In the first game, the Mounties trailed 1-0 early in the game before Barardi launched a ball over the left field wall, tying the game. The go-ahead run came in the fifth inning after
Melissa Demo got home on a Warriors error.

Danielle Goff pitched a complete game and tosses seven strikeouts. Demo was the Mountaineers top hitter going 3-of-3 with the deciding run.

Mansfield had a battle in game two. Mansfield found themselves in a battle being tied at 3-3 after the top of the third inning. The Owls went on a run knocking in three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Kayla Vonstein hit a two RBI single to cut the lead in the fourth to 6-5, but the Owls stayed ahead adding another run.

Demo brought it back within a run with an RBI single, before the Owls matched in the bottom of the fifth inning leaving the game at 8-6.

The Mounties took the lead for good in the sixth inning on a 3-run home run by Macik going up 10-8. Vonstein scored on a passed ball in the following inning to give the Mounties the 11-8 win.

Fallon Kelley was 3-of-5 on the day.

Mansfield begins conference play on Tuesday, March 21 as they travel to Bloomsburg University.
