Mounties Fall to Millersville in Final Game of Season

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Jasmine Hilton recorded her ninth double-double of the season to lead the Mansfield University women's basketball team (3-23, 2-20 PSAC), but the Mounties fell, 75-62, to Millersville University (16-11, 11-10 PSAC) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 25.

Hilton poured in a game-high 24 points on 9-of-21 shooting to go with 11 rebounds to lead the way. Alivia Paeglow also finished in double figures, adding 11 points and six rebounds, while Kristen Fulford and Emilie Leidig each finished with eight points.

In a game that featured six ties and five lead changes, the Mountaineers cut the deficit to three, 65-62, with under three minutes remaining in regulation. However, the Marauders closed out the contest on a 7-3 run to seal the deal.

The Mounties outshot Millersville on the night, finishing around 40 percent, knocking down 24-of-61 shots. The Marauders only shot 37 percent from the floor, but knocked down six additional shots at the line, while doubling the Mounties in 3-pointers with six.

The Mounties also forced a game-high 16 turnovers, but Millersville made crucial shots when it mattered most.

After trailing by six after the first quarter, Mansfield outscored Millersville 20-17 in the second period to make it 31-28 heading into the break.

The Mounties opened the second half on a 6-0 run to take a 34-31 lead with seven minutes remaining in the third, but as they did all night, Millersville countered with a run of their own to regain a two-point less than a minute later.

A triple by Leidig with 4:07 to go in the third quarter have the Mounties their final lead, 42-40.

For the Marauders, Taylor Langan notched a 23-point, 10 rebound double-double to lead the way.
