SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. - The men's basketball team (2-1) defeated Penn State Schuylkill (1-4) in a non-conference battle as the Mounties shut down the host, 94-52.
This marks the most points for the Mounties since the 2021-22 season when the team scored 97 points at East Stroudsburg.
Owen Chambers led the scoring for Mansfield, holding 14 points off the bench and Julian Wilson finished right behind with 12 off the bench and six boards on the night.
Saraj Ali posted a ten-point, ten rebound double-double, while Manir Waller scored 11 and posted seven rebounds.
Five bench players saw ten plus points, also including Jordan Montgomery (11), Camden Hurst (10), and Diarmid Stewart (10).
After an even 10-10 start to the night, the Mounties pushed out a 23-4 run over the next four minutes. Eight players contributed to the run, including a six-point stunt from Wilson.
Mansfield finished out the half with a commanding 41-20 lead, scoring their final bucket right before halftime from Ali.
Coming out of the half, the Mounties continued their offensive firepower.
After a 52-29 lead, another run broke out with a 23-5 over seven minutes of action to solidify the night for the Mounties to secure the road victory and defeating the host on Friday night.
As a team, Mansfield shot 58.0% from the field, including an impressive 40.9% (9-22) from beyond the arc.
They continue to dominate the glass with 48 rebounds in that department, and using their depth at its full potential with 57 bench points.
