Box Score MANSFIELD, Pa - The Mansfield Mountaineers women's soccer team (3-6-2, 2-5-2 PSAC) tied the Millersville Marauders (4-3-3 4-3-2 PSAC) on Saturday afternoon in a scoreless Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest.
With the game being changed from grass to turf due to inclement weather, the two teams took advantage of the fast field.
Through the first fifteen minutes, four shots on goal were tallied, two from each team.
The first half remained tied as the scoreboard hit zero, with the two combining for fifteen shots with seven on goal.
Play took a quiet turn, only seeing one shot through the first 25 minutes of the second half.
After back-and-forth shots, the Marauders goalie was given a yellow card that led to a
Katelyn Rueppel free kick that went just barely over the bar.
In the 82nd minute,
Quelyn Nepa nearly made Mountie faithful erupt after sending a shot that nailed the crossbar and was kicked out by the Millersville defense.Â
An intense final few minutes led to the Mountaineers and the Marauders ending in a scoreless tie.
Britlyn Higgins,
Bailey Dockman,
Taylar Luckenbill, and
Madison Herb all assisted in the tremendous defensive play from the Mountie defense to preserve the shutout.
Samantha Merklin earned her third shutout of the season, recording six saves.
Bailey Dockman,
Katelyn Rueppel,
Parker Moss, and
Aleigha Rieppel all registered a shot on goal for the Mountaineers.
