ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The No. 7 Mansfield field hockey team (7-3, 1-1 PSAC) defeated Roberts Wesleyan (1-8) in nonconference play on Wednesday afternoon as the Mountaineers delivered an offensive onslaught, claiming a 10-0 victory. Â
This performance stands as the most goals by the team since 1996 when the Mounties defeated Elmira College, 15-0.Â
With the shutout, August Lewis tied the single season record of six shutouts. Her current save percentage also stands in the top ten for a single season by a goalkeeper.Â
Mansfield started off the day with a 2-0 lead after an early start in the first quarter. Blaise Cugini and Alex Esterling were credited with the first two goals. Saramae Radel added the assist on the second goal. Â
The Mountaineers sent four more goals into the back of the cage to take a stronghold on the contest, taking a 6-0 lead into halftime. The four goals were scored in order by Esterling, Kenedy Stroup, Alexis Bell, and Hannah Meyer. Bell and Meyer's were quick, happening just 49 seconds apart from each other. Â
Holding the huge lead going into the final half, the Mounties held the opponent to no thought of hitting the wood and Mansfield added four more goals into the net to claim the nonconference victory, 10-0. Â
Melanie Esh scored the only goal during the third quarter. Emily Santillana scored two in the fourth, with both assisted by Kaylie Ranere, and Ashtyn Price delivered the final goal. Â
The trio of Hannah Meyer, Riley Kleinfelter, and Sophia Vadnais kept the Redhawks side of the scoreboard blank.Â
Santillana and Price's goals stood as their first on the season and Ranere placed her first two assists of the season.Â
On the day, the Mounties attempted 53 shots and 33 shots on goal, the most in the Brittany Hansrote era. The team also landed 18 penalty corners.Â
